Donald Trump, you’re a racist and you’re fired!

Joaquin Guzman also known as El Chapo (meaning shorty) is being hailed as the real Shawshank after a mind-boggling escape from the Altiplano prison through a one-mile long tunnel, an engineering marvel on its own.

The gravity of negligence on part of the Mexican security officials and seriousness of the flak coped by Mexican Premier Enrique Pena in the wake of an embarrassing escape of the world’s most feared drug lord jibed to the lighter side when American rapper Pitbull took on Donald trump,  after the latter’s racist remarks on Hispanic immigrants.

It all began to simmer when Trump of The Apprentice fame kick started his presidential campaign. He resorted to clichés such as,

“Sadly, the American dream is dead. But if I get elected as president, I will bring it back, bigger and better than ever.”

Though, not many espoused the gimmickry.

Mr Trump criticised Barack Obama’s (the first coloured president in US history) leadership vehemently in the wake of the Baltimore crisis garnering media attention, though he mildly disapproved the more recent Charleston church shooting, where the perpetrator was a white fundamentalist. I believe this to be quite hypocritical on his behalf.

Not that I am an advocate of all of Obama’s policies, but Mr Trump must realise and acknowledge that sealing the non-proliferation treaty of nukes with Iran (deemed as the axis of evil by the trigger happy George Bush) and bringing about a much needed thaw in the relationship with neighbouring Cuba (both countries agreeing to opening embassies in their respective countries and  JetBlue airline will soon be starting flights to Havana from New York) are master strokes towards a peaceful coexistence.

Trump’s opinion of bombing the oil fields in Iraq and tackling the ISIS after assuming presidency depicts his destructive mind-set. I reckon he should take a leaf out of Obama’s policy manual where he is keen to garner good relations with Nigeria’s newly elected premier to fight off the scourge of Boko Haram.

Trump’s desire to become the mouthpiece of Republicans came true when he voiced his reservation over Obama’s immigration policies and uttered the following racist statement,

“They are bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists and some I assume are good people.”

Naturally, the statement did not go down well with the majority of Americans who believe in tolerance, respect and coexistence. Even big corporations took offense to his rather puerile comment.

To record their protest, Huffington Post decided not to recognise him as a presidential candidate.

Trump’s famous one-liner, “you’re fired” came a full circle when NBC, Trump’s joint partner for the Miss Universe beauty pageant, severed business ties with the frivolous tycoon. Craft brewery is the latest in line to join the bandwagon of boycotting the ‘Trump’ brand name.
