Spring is Almost Here!

The days are getting longer, the wildflowers are blooming in the hills, and the valley is slowly waking up from the quiet of winter. The transition between seasons in Lake Chelan is one of the valley’s best-kept secrets and as we head into spring, we thought we’d highlight all the best parts of the season. The lake may still be too cold to swim in, but there’s plenty to keep you entertained here in the valley. Consider visiting while the town is quiet, the sky is clear, and as the last of the snow melts, the surrounding hills emerge green.

Hiking

There’s plenty of hiking to do on both the north and south sides of the lake and spring is an ideal time to take in the lush beauty of our surroundings. If you’ve never hiked the butte before, this might be the perfect time to adventure up. The trail is riddled with brightly colored wildflowers and the view of Lake Chelan from Elephant’s Head is hard to beat. Or find a new one to try from the many miles of maintained trails in the valley. There are plenty to choose from, ranging from easy walks to difficult backcountry hikes.

Wine Tasting

Spring brings new life and new beginnings. That also means it brings us new wines, and it really doesn’t get better than that, does it? Lake Chelan Spring Release happens every spring and the wineries in the valley introduce their newest whites and rosés. Get a jump start on your favorite summertime sippers while enjoying stunning views of the blooming vineyards and rising lake levels.

There’s also Spring Barrel Tasting! Taste new wines straight from the barrel at your favorite wineries and get an inside look (and taste!) into the winemaking process. These wines have yet to be bottled and officially released so it’s a chance to try what might be your next favorite wine!

Music and Festivals

There’s plenty of festivities that happen in Lake Chelan in the spring. Apart from the music performances that occur regularly at places like Campbell’s Resort, The Vogue, and many local wineries, spring brings about many other opportunities to get your fill of music, art, and community. Take a stroll through the Chelan Earth Day fair in Riverwalk Park in April, attend the Lake Chelan Wine and Jazz Festival in May, or treat yourself to a rejuvenating weekend during Unwind and Explore. View our calendar for all upcoming events!

Lake Chelan in the springtime is an experience you don’t want to miss out on. Take in the natural beauty of the lake and mountains and enjoy a refreshing break in the Lake Chelan Valley. Amazing weather, delicious wine, and friendly people. What more can you ask for?
